Meuleveldje

The proposed strategy for the transformation of an existing neighborhood in Ninove is a combination of sale, renovation and demolish and rebuilding. 21 existing houses will be replaced by 36 new types of houses and appartments of different types. The new program will be nicely fitted withing the existing context with extra attention to identity, safety, privacy and overall living quality. The location is very specific and knows a big height difference. The creation of a quality combination of outside and living space will have to be done in accordance to the relief of the landscape.

The existing neighborhood with mainly a lot of space for cars and little public and green space needs to be transformed into a modern and sustainable living environment. By building in a compact way, space is freed up to create qualitative public space. Combined with a well thought out green and water concept this creates a great addition to the neighborhood.

Patricia Mata Mayrand

I have always been an aesthete, critical and curious person, which led me to the interest of how Architecture impacts on people’s daily lives. The obsession with simplifying complex processes in order to achieve a recognizable solution that applies naturally across the different scales of a project, has come to define my practice. These solutions weave together efficiency, sustainability, comfort, and identity for the end user. After completing my university studies, I moved to the Netherlands with a scholarship from Fundación Arquia to work at MVRDV. I later returned to Spain, where I worked as an independent architect and contributed to a project on the coast. Back in the Netherlands, I worked on large-scale projects at EEA; and with a clearer vision of my professional goals, I decided to join Woonwerk Architecten, where I continue to develop my career. In addition to my professional work, I participate in volunteer activities that allow me to experience firsthand life in residential care centres that offer rehabilitation services, cognitive stimulation, and medical care. I am committed to sharing and promoting my experience at both a local and international level.
