Hendrik Benjamins

Hendrik has a broad background in architecture, having completed both vocational (mbo) and higher professional (hbo) education in architecture and engineering. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in architecture at the Rotterdamse Academie van Bouwkunst. Throughout his studies, Hendrik has gained experience at various architecture firms, working on projects ranging from small-scale housing designs to large-scale residential developments. His current graduation project focuses on the design of an adaptable residential building that remains of high quality and is habitable for a period of 1,000 years. The project is an exploration within four architectural themes: Shearing Layers, polyvalence, material use, and great space. Through this lens, Hendrik investigates how architecture can be designed to remain future-proof and responsive to changing needs and circumstances. Combining practical experience with academic depth, Hendrik strives to create designs that are both functional and resilient, with a strong focus on long term value and the evolving needs of residents and users.
