Park de Blieck is a residential neighborhood built in 1960 with approximately half of the houses owned by the housing company. These houses are in need for renewal. Sustainability is a guiding concept throughout the plan, with energy efficient houses forming the basis. We searched for a maximum of space for green, water en meeting places for the residents. In the zone with the most connected property of the company, we propose an integral transformation of the structure of the area, wherein the public space gets a complete overhaul. The big building blocks comeback much more permeable, with an abundance of slow connections.
By efficiently solving the parking demands within the housing blocks with a minimum of roads connecting them, we get a neighborhood that is mostly car free. Park de Blieck, that once functioned as an island in the neighborhood now stretches out from the southern edge, all the way to the open area in the north.
