We are very excited to share that Oudemansstraat has been selected as a finalist in the Archello Awards 2025 for the Housing Project of the Year – Mid Rise category.
In recent years, Antwerp’s Schipperskwartier has undergone a profound transformation. Affordable housing has been introduced for diverse target groups, acting as a catalyst for social renewal. The area once dominated by prostitution has been made more compact, while the surroundings of Oudemansstraat evolve into a lively urban residential district. Our project contributes to this shift by transforming two adjacent buildings—on Crauwelengang and Oudemansstraat—into affordable housing.The building on Oudemansstraat, formerly a nightclub, has been converted into apartments. On Crauwelengang, three compact dwellings have been integrated into the existing structure. A new and robust street façade brings architectural refinement and rhythm to the street, while the rear features a slender steel frame that shapes a serene, green courtyard in the heart of the block.
